2011 Presidents Report
2011 Presidents Report
Well first, hats off to each and everyone of you on another successful season. Without your dedication to providing quality officiating, we could not exist. Some of you worked above and beyond the call of duty and for that our assignor and I are deeply appreciative.
We started the season doing our NOMTFA Indoor at the Pine Glen Soccer Facility in Oakville. Overall it was a great season, except for having to do the final game alone (communication mix up) but I managed to recruit assistance and maybe a future official. (Drew?) Thanks to the guys who volunteered to work the NOMTFA 2011 OCHO Bowl, which raised over 10,000.00 for the Mike Pinball Clemons Foundation. Thanks to Scott, Rob, and Trent
The TFONT Earlybird Tournament in May was dreary, cold, wet, muddy affair, and that was just on the Saturday. My thanks to everyone, who weathered the cold and rain, especially those who worked extra games to complete the assignments of BMFA Flag , opening day. Thanks Ryan, Damien, Curth, Al, Barry, Brian, Harley, John, Ernie, Dan and Derby.
Burlington Minor Football Flag program saw frequent schedule changes in the first month of operation. Kudos to Al Bullock, our assignor for working around these changes and ensures we have officials available to work or talk those already working to stick around and work later or more games. We were able to draw some of our retired officials out to work the games as well. I have been told by the BMFA President how they really appreciate our effort and look forward to the 2012 season. Thanks Addison, Connor, Nic and Andrew
Golden Horseshoe began after the Earlybird tournament and we saw a decline in the number of assignments, part of this was due to fewer teams in GHTFA as well as an increase number of trained player officials who were required to participate. Our relationship with GHTFA is solid, however, we are still providing a service and they are the customer. We look forward to next season.
Milton Men’s Flag started after the May long weekend and ran three days a week. The quality of play over the years has grown and we saw some great action this season. They were happy with the officiating provided throughout the summer months.
North Oakville Men’s Touch Football League celebrated their 35th season this fall. Teams enjoyed playing at Crusader Park on Saturday mornings. This league allows us to bring some new members into the association. Welcome Harold. We look forward to working together next year, starting with NOMTFA Indoor on Thursday nights at Pine Glen Soccer Park on Third Line in Oakville.
We managed to provide officials for every TFONT tournament this season. At times, this can be a difficult task as we run league play on the same dates. Our school tournaments, to which we provide up to 8 officials all day, help to supplement our revenues and our exposure to possible new venues or officials. We will continue to build these relationships.
Lastly, I would like to thank my executive members, Ernie, Al, Scott, Brian, Barry and Rob, for you hard work and dedication to our association. Your support ensures the interest of our officials and our clients are met. No man is an island and only with the support of others can we exist. As your President, I am truly grateful.
Remember, the 3 R’s of SOTFOA, Recruitment, Retention and RESPECT.
Thank you
Doug Richardson
