Briefly write the ruling relating to each of the situations described below.
Note: Abbreviations used: K= kicking team, kickoff or punt; R = receiver or receiving team; O =team on offence or offensive player; D = team on defence or defensive player.
1. On a kickoff, the ball contacts R2 on team Rs 20-yard line and bounces to R3 on the 25-yard line, who picks up the ball and runs up field. R3 is touched on the 30-yard line. What is the ruling?
2. An offensive player, in motion prior to the snap, is accidentally hit by the snap from centre, 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage. What is the ruling?
3. The rusher jumps in front of the five-yard bag and the ball is snapped. The rusher then returns back behind the bag and then rushes across the line of scrimmage. What is the ruling?
4. An offensive player remains on the line of scrimmage while the rest of the team huddles. What is the ruling?
5. The quarterback throws a forward pass which is blocked by the rusher behind the line of scrimmage, but the quarterback catches the ball before it hits the ground, and throws a completed pass to O4. What is the ruling?
6. The quarterback crosses the line of scrimmage and then throws a completed forward pass to O3. What is the ruling?
7. After jumping to catch a pass, O3 lands with both feet touching the ground at the same time, one foot in bounds and one out of bounds. What is the ruling?
8. O2 attempts to catch a pass and the ball goes off O2 s body. While the ball is in the air, in close proximity to O2, D3 pushes O2 away from the ball which hits the ground. What is the ruling?
9. O3 is running for a pass and D4 is running stride for stride in an equally favourable position to catch the ball. Their feet become entangled and one of them falls. What is the ruling?
10. Team O punts. R3 fumbles the catch attempt, and the ball drops to the ground in front of R3, who picks it up and starts up field. What is the ruling?
