2009 Presidents Report

Wow

Where did the year go to. First we began with NOMTFA indoor in the new facility on Third line, like Ernie said went from the outhouse to the penthouse. Last Spring, we provided training sessions to over 65 people, my thanks to Brian and Curth for your assistance. Then it was onto the Trillium Early bird Tournament, (a dry event)… thanks to Barry, Al, Derby, Brian, Damien, Ernie, Chris, Dan, Rob, Scott, John, and Curth for your continued support. Hope I got everyone.

Next came BMFA Flag, thanks Mike L, Peter, Ryan, Scott, Andy, Jessica, Kathleen, Len, Mike K, Dave and the rest of the crew for your tireless effort, I know the teams appreciated it.

Then Golden Horseshoe began along with Milton Flag.

By Fall, we were 5 tournaments completed with representation at all. Getting into the Touch Provincials in Belleville (great venue, hotel could have had air conditioning…I mean listening to the ducks and geese flying home at 4 pm) but overall great time had be everyone who assisted. And then we started working in Oakville for NOMTFA fall season. Those who helped out did a great job according to the league.

We finished with the Touch Nationals in Toronto, which saw us working on 4 fields and a nod to Brian and his opportunity to White Hat the Men’s AA Final (what a game)

So here we are again, looking forward to next season’s NOMTFA Indoor league starting in January.

I would like to thank all of my fellow executive members for their efforts and patience. Ernie, Al, Brian, Rob and of course Curth (especially for his help at the Rule meeting in Kingston. The glossary is a good beginning.

We did have some changes last season, we saw a decline the leagues we officiated with the Women’s League going to Hamilton Touch Football Association (we will see how that pans out) and a decline in the number of games in Golden Horseshoe and Milton.

But we are still being asked to referee small tournaments and some new leagues to consider. (Georgetown for one). We have identified our challenges to continue to grow and appreciate any advice you might have to help us get there.

With the reduction of our game schedule allowed some of our officials to assist the Mississauga Touch Football Officials, to which I am sure George and company were grateful. We will continue to build on this alliance.

Our goal is to maintain the services to our current clients and in five years, realize the completion of the dream. We want to provide each one of you the opportunity to develop your skills to the best of your ability.

Our honeymoon years are over and we must continue to move ahead. I appreciate the support of each one of you and look forward to another great season in 2010. Remember Recruitment, Retention and Respect are our goals. Keep in Touch.
